wild west in the old world

buggalobugg

And the Buggtish people were suitably impressed by the painted savages and heroic Old West cowboys, weren’t they?

The bow on Mrs Bugg’s feather is a nice touch.

Transcript:

Mr Bugg is rocking the cowboy look, complete with lasso, rifle and spurs atop his bucking horse. Mrs Bugg is playing the Native American, with a fetching single-feathered headband (avec bow, naturellement), a bow and arrow in her hands. I’m sure you know by now that no self-respecting bugg horse would be caught dead *not* rearing up when an image was captured, but I would be remiss if I didn’t mention it.

The text reads: “Maybee 9, 1887: Buggalo Bugg Cody’s Wild West Show opens in Buggdon.”

jailbreak

jailbreak

I think the real reason is they have no idea what sixteenth-century Scottish Buggish lawmen wore, but it’s cool, Mr Bugg.

Transcript:

Mr Bugg is wearing a ten-gallon hat and a gunbelt, waving his arms in an attempt to get Mrs Bugg to stop. Mrs Bugg, on a rearing horse and also wearing a probably-anachronistic gunbelt, waves gleefully as she makes good her escape.

The text reads: “Maybee 2, 1568: Mary, Queen of Buggs, escapes from Loch Buggven castle. Yes, this jail break did not happen in the old west of buggland, but Mrs Bugg really wanted to wear this outfit.”

wild wild west

annie buggley

I notice the Buggs seem to favor Wild West themes for their historic re-enactments. I’m pretty sure this is because of their love of guns, spurs and riding horses — and who doesn’t love these things?

Transcript:

Annie Buggley sits on her horse, aiming a rifle at an apple balanced on the head of Buffalo Bugg, who is tied to a post. He does not look at all certain that she’s going to miss his head and hit the apple. It’s okay, Buffalo Bugg — your head will grow back.

The text reads: “Aprovul 24, 1885: Sharpshooter Annie Buggley is hired to be part of Buffalo Bugg’s Wild West Show.”

for a moment there, I thought we were in trouble

bolivia

I really, really want to see the Bugg version of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, but I’ll settle for their cosplay re-enactment, I guess.

Transcript:

The Buggs are rocking the western wear again: Mr Bugg appears to be wearing a period-appropriate black bowler, while Mrs Bugg is sporting the ten-gallon hat-with-bow. They’ve both got spurs and gun belts, and they’re waving as their horses rear prior to galloping away.

The text reads: “Aprovul 23, 1878: Bugg Cassidy and the Sundance Bugg head for Bolivia. This would have been easier and quicker by boat.”

the old west

william h. buggey

The list of things I love more than Mrs Bugg in spurs and a gun belt is quite short.

Transcript:

A smiling, unrepentant Mr Bugg, riding a bucking horse veggilope?, and dressed as Old West outlaw Billy Buggy the Kid complete with hat, spurs and gun, rides away from Mrs Bugg, who today is playing the role of county sheriff, complete with spurs, gunbelt and lawman’s star. She looks quite upset.

The text reads: “Aprovul 18, 1861: Buggy the Kid escapes from the Lincoln County Jail.”
