I have had to have this whole thing explained to me, because it keeps coming up and I was confused.

Basically: female buggs historically ate their mates. To get them to stop, male buggs offered the females the right to vote, but only if they’d stop eating the males. Bit of a rough choice for them, because apparently male buggs are delicious.
